The Mint Las Vegas was a hotel and casino in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The Mint was the sponsor of the Mint 400, the largest off-road race from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s.

The Mint was made famous (or infamous) as the first night's stay in Hunter S. Thompson and Oscar Acosta's legendary 1971 weekend trip to Las Vegas, immortalized in Thompson's novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

The Mint opened July 12, 1957. The four major owners were Milton Prell, Al Winter, L.B. “Tutor” Scherer, and J.D. “Joe” Hall, and the first general manager was none other than Sam Boyd, who went on to own Sam's Town and other iconic casinos.

The Mint's casino appears in the 1964 film Viva Las Vegas and in the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever. The Mint's building can be seen in the background toward the end of the 1984 film Starman. It can also be seen in the background of the 1968 film They Came to Rob Las Vegas. The casino can also be seen several times towards the end of the 1987 U2 music video "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", which was filmed entirely on Fremont Street.

In 1988, The Mint was sold and became part of Binion's Horseshoe.

You will truly own a piece of iconic Vegas history by making this chip an addition to your collection. Issued in 1967, only 340 of these chips were made. They rarely come up for sale, so snap it up while you can!

PLEASE READ REGARDING CONDITION AND BUSINESS BLAH BLAH BLAH:

Please look closely at the photographs. Unless you see the words "stock photo," then the picture is of the item you will receive. When I am selling multiples of an item, it will be a photo of one of the items, and not necessarily the item you will receive.  I guarantee you that you will receive an item of the same or better quality.

I am a member of the Casino Collectibles Association and am held to a high standard as a member. None of my chips have been professionally graded (except by me) but I am careful to take lots of pictures so you know exactly what you are getting. I use The Chip Rack condition rating system, and I price in accordance with the Chip Rack Price Guide, 22nd edition (SSS publishing and available on at: www.thechiprack.com) criteria. All my chips come in a protective coin case so there will be no damage.

I have attempted to give accurate information regarding condition and to disclose any defects, stains, etc.  I take plenty of pictures to give you an accurate idea of condition. Please look at the pictures! I typically take side 1, side 2, edge and in protective case pictures.  My own personal condition rating is what you see, and it’s based upon the Casino Collectibles Association rating system (New, Slightly Used, Average, Well-Used and Poor). Keep in mind that condition is in the eyes of the collector, so look closely at the photographs.  If you are unhappy with a chip, I will refund your purchase price upon return.

MY SHIPPING POLICY IS VERY SIMPLE: I ship USPS Ground Advantage. If I receive payment by 2:00 PM Las Vegas time the shipment will go out that day. If payment received after that time it will be shipped the next business day, Saturday & Sunday or NOT BUSINESS DAYS.

Please note, I am OCD careful with packing and shipping.  All items come in bubble envelopes with cardboard protectors. It costs a bit more to send, but I find it is worth it to take care.  My shipping prices usually involve me paying for part of the shipping cost out of the price of the item, and the more valuable items I try to send without shipping.  I make money on the product NOT on the shipping!

If for any reason you are not happy with any item(s) you receive please contact me via EBAY messages. I will do my best to fix any problem, will refund your purchase price upon return of the item.

Sorry, NO items can be picked up in person for INSURANCE reasons.

Please take a look at my store for more great casino chips. I have over 5000 chips yet to be listed, and new chips go on sale each week!
