Photograph Notes: There are a number of waterfalls in this area on the River Hepste but this one, Sgwd yr Eira or Spout of Snow has a distinctly different feature, a path runs behind the falling water. In past years farmers used to drive their flocks of sheep this way and it is still passable by walkers, although with care. The water falls over a band of gritstone whereas the softer rock underlying it has been eroded, leaving a path behind it, although after heavy rain you may need your waterproofs and to watch your footing.
