Louis Eugène Lambert (1825 Paris - 1900 Paris.) was a very well known French animalist artist of the 19th century. Pupil of the famous Eugène Delacroix, he specialized in painting cats and was called "Cat Raphael" by his contemporaries. From 1847 the artist regularly exhibited in Parisian Salon. His works can be seen in museums of Amsterdam, Brooklyn, Cincinnati, London (British Museum) and in various French public collections.
