-Description: This is the original artwork for the 6-12-1933 daily comic strip BARNEY GOOGLE by Billy DeBeck. One of the all-time classic comic strips, DeBeck's masterpiece followed the adventures of Barney Google, sort of a neer-do well sportsman who dabbled in poker, horse racing, prize fights and other sports. This daily, titled "Why The Viper Left Town" (on the reverse) features the villainous Viper and his step-son Sawbuck Finnegan. Here, it appears that Sully was closing in on The Viper, so he ditched his step-son, who ended up in the West Side Reform School, and left town. Great images of The Viper (who looks a bit like Popeye's nemesis Bluto) and Sawbuck Finnegan. Wonderful layout with borderless panels and terrific inking by a master of the comic strip form. IDR
