This is an 1864 Civil War poem. It appears from what I an able to read that it is for a deceased brother, Samuel. Some of the hand writing is difficult to read. The poem is unsigned. This piece comes with it's mailing envelope. It is addressed to J.R. Batchellor Esq., West Braintree, Vermont. The postmarked is Apr. 28, Boston Mass. It is also marked - D. Lawrence & Son Apr. 27, 1864. The poem has some splits in the paper. It measures 8" x 7 1/2". The envelope is torn on it's right side where it was opened. A unique original Civil War memorial poem.
