QUALITY ART PRINT
IDEAL FOR LOVERS OF FINE AUSTRALIAN ARTWORKS - A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY WALL

Conrad Martens, 1801-78
'View of Sydney from Neutral Bay', circa 1857

This reproduction art print of a classic painting by Conrad Martens depicts the colonial settlement of Sydney across the waters of Port Jackson from Neutral Bay.

Conrad Martens' early career was spent in England. In his early 30s he embarked on a voyage to India but was diverted by stints with various explorers in the far south of South America. A highlight of this time was travelling and working between Montevideo and Valparaiso in HMS Beagle with Charles Darwin. He arrived at Sydney in 1835 where he remained until his death, except for a trip to Brisbane and the New England region.
