The gnarled, pink-blossomed Hawthorn is one of the most magickal trees, rich in folklore and legend. It is a gateway tree strongly associated with the Faery world and the Underworld.

Hawthorn is the third tree in the Celtic trinity of “Oak, Ash, and Thorn”—where the three trees grow together, one may see faeries. Also called the Mayflower or May Tree, Hawthorn blooms at Beltane and the berries are good for rites of love and revelry.

The fruit of the Rose bush, associated with love, health, and abundance. In magickal practices it is used for good luck, in divinatory rites, and in spells for romance and fertility. When worn as a charm or placed under the pillow, they are said to banish nightmares and attract true love.
