🌌Tired of blurry deep-sky images, chromatic aberration washing out nebula details, insufficient light gathering for faint targets, or struggling to capture iconic Southern Hemisphere DSOs?
The SVBONY SV550 122mm Astronomical Triplet Refractor solves all these frustrations with pro-grade optical performance—designed for serious DSO photography and visual astronomy, perfect for astronomers worldwide chasing crisp, detailed celestial shots.

Core Advantages
✅ Triplet Apochromatic Design
Eliminates chromatic aberration and coma completely—delivering color-free, high-contrast DSO images and visual views. Unlike standard refractors, the 3-element lens design preserves true color accuracy and sharpness across the entire field of view, critical for capturing faint nebula filaments and galaxy details.
✅ 122mm Large Aperture | FMC Optics
Boasts 25% more light-gathering power than 100mm refractors, revealing faint deep-sky objects that smaller scopes miss. Fully Multi-Coated (FMC) glass maximizes light transmittance for brighter, clearer views, even in low-light conditions—ideal for both DSO photography and visual observation.
✅ Smooth Precision Focusing
Engineered for smooth, backlash-free focusing, enabling ultra-precise alignment for long-exposure DSO photography and sharp planetary/lunar views. The robust construction ensures stability during extended observation sessions, no blurriness from slight adjustments.
✅ DSO-Optimized Versatility
Perfectly balanced for deep-sky imaging (nebulae, galaxies, clusters) and visual astronomy. The compact, portable design fits most standard telescope mounts (SV225 Alt-Az, EQ mounts, etc.), making it ideal for backyard stargazing or remote dark-site trips to the Southern Hemisphere.

🎯 Ideal Observation & Imaging Targets
🌌 Deep-Sky Objects (DSO Core Strength)
Emission Nebulae: Orion Nebula (M42), Lagoon Nebula (M8), Ring Nebula (M57), Dumbbell Nebula (M27)
Galaxies: Andromeda (M31), Triangulum (M33), Pinwheel Galaxy (M101)
Star Clusters: Pleiades (M45), Hercules Cluster (M13), Beehive Cluster (M44)
🌟 Southern Hemisphere Special Targets
Eta Carinae Nebula (NGC 3372): Captures its fiery, intricate H-Alpha filaments and bipolar lobes with zero color fringing.
Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) & Tarantula Nebula (NGC 2070): Reveals dense star clusters and faint nebulosity that standard scopes cannot resolve.
Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC): Delivers bright, clear views of its variable stars and emission nebulae.
Globular Clusters: Omega Centauri (NGC 5139) & 47 Tucanae (NGC 104) – resolves individual stars and dense cores with exceptional sharpness.
🌕 Bonus Targets
Planets (Jupiter’s cloud bands, Saturn’s rings, Mars’ polar caps) and double stars—SV550’s precision optics deliver crisp, detailed visual views for all astronomy enthusiasts.

👤 Who This Telescope Is For ?
DSO Photographers (All Skill Levels): Solves blurry images, chromatic aberration, and low light issues—perfect for capturing pro-level deep-sky shots, from beginners to advanced hobbyists.

My first image with the new 122mm apochromatic refractor. The Fighting dragons of Ara or NGC 6188. This is easily my favourite object to image. The mythology associated with this nebula only adds to its appeal. Ara, or the alter is where the gods, led by Zeus, defeated the titans in an epic battle. Named as such due to its appearance, two dragons engaged in battle. Located well within the Southern hemisphere visibility zone at a distance of 4000 light years. It is an emission nebula where stars are born. Only just over 4 hours of 2 minute exposures with very little post processing.
