Original hand colored 1773 map of Ireland, with decorative rococo-style cartouche.

• The image area measures 28 x 19 cm [11" x 7½"], and the distance scale is measured in English miles.



• It is titled A New Map of Ireland, from the Best Observations, and it labels provinces and counties, with Galway misidentified as Galloway.



• Other details include cities, towns, rivers, bays, harbors, and islands.



• A pair of sheep rest on the grass next to the cartouche.



• The map was engraved by Prinald and published in A New System of Geography: or, A General Description of the World, by Daniel Fenning and Joseph Collyer, London; 1773.



• Condition:  The right margin had been trimmed off close to the neat line and then reattached. There's a bit of old glue residue on the upper and lower corners at the right edge, outside of the image area. Otherwise, the map is bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears.
