Note: an android or pixel phone is required to pair a new headphone as the app is needed and not available on apple devices.
To pair your current headphone with the replacement headphone.
There are now two ways to pair the replacement headphone. The latest firmware(released october 2023) automatically updates the other headphones firmware(if the firmware is an older version).
All headphones I sell will have the latest firmware installed.
Try the first pairing instructions below first, then use the second pairing instructions if needed.
- Fully charge the case and headphones. Both headphones must be charged to 100% to pair correctly.
- Go to your bluetooth connections and delete/forget the bluetooth connection and turn off bluetooth.
- Put both headphones in the case and then close and open the door.
- With the case door open press and hold the button on the back of the case, the case led will pulse or randomly flash. Hold the button until it shows no lights for atleast 10 seconds.
- Let go of the button, the led will flash white/orange or randomly turn off an on. Wait until the led flashes white.
- Turn your devices bluetooth back on.
- If
you see a pop up menu to connect to pixel buds ignore it by clicking
outside of the menu. Reconnect to your device inside the settings
bluetooth menu. On certain phones the popup menu connection will cause
connection issues after replacing one of the headphones.
- If you do not see the bluetooth connection in the
bluetooth menu and are only getting the pop up menu restart your
device(a full power off and on reboot).
- If the headphones are not paired together repeat the process again.
- In the pixel buds app scroll down and select "More settings", then select "Firmware update". If only one of the headphones firmware is "release_5.9_signed" follow the second pairing instructions below. If it is any other firmware select "manually update firmware" update the firmware.
- If there is any sound issues (one side louder then the other, unbalanced sound….) repeat the process from the start of these instructions.
Second pairing instructions
- First try selecting "manually update firmware", it most likely will give an error that the headphones disconnected or headphones need to be charged, however may update the firmware.
- It it does not update the firmware leave the headphones in the charge case for an hour. Then remove the headphones and connect again and check if both headphones are updated to the "release_5.9_signed".
- The headphones may not connect again if the firmware had updated. Remove the old bluetooth connection, turn off and on bluetooth and connect the headphones again.
- If they are not both "release_5.9_signed" firmware leave them in the case for longer.
- If both headphones are firmware "release_5.9_signed" or after the firmware updates it may still have the option to "manually update firmware". Update the firmware again if so.
If you have never updated the firmware a different method may need to be used.
This is only on the very first few firmware revisions of the headphones.
Contact us if you have issue's like there is an error not allowing the
firmware update to complete or one of the headphones always shows 0% in
the app although it is fully charged.
