It is probably the latest known work of well-known Italo-English miniaturist John (Giovanni) Trossarelli, painted in 1834, when the artist was 75 years old.
Our additional images offer clips from (respectively) Schidlof and Daphne Foskett with extensive biographical information about Trossarelli. Our further additional images show several of his other works.
Concerning the sitter: his name - Henry Corbet Taylor - is provided in authentic inscription on verso. We found a reference to him on the Web, mentioning him as one of directors of the London "Mentor Life Assurance Company" (see one of our photographs).
