What are thundereggs?
Thundereggs are a specific kind of nodule that forms in rhyolite lava. They consist of an external ?shell? or matrix, in which a void opens up, probably as the rock cools. This void is (usually) then filled with other materials, such as agate, crystal, jasper or others. They can be incredibly diverse in structure, colour and pattern, with every one unique in some way, making them hugely addictive to collect. They also range widely in age from about 30 million years to over 1 billion.
A note about colour
Agates and thundereggs can be very colourful, but it is also very easy for cameras/scanners to brighten them. For most of these listings, I use a scanner to get the main image, possibly including some camera shots alongside for more details. I find the scanner produces the most accurate results. However, when you see them, you might find them a little darker than you expect, especially under lower light.
Postage
Specimens will be carefully packed. Some of the smaller ones might be safe in a padded envelope with additional protection, but the majority will be packed in boxes with plenty of bubble wrap and fill.
Recent changes to the eBay postage system have removed almost all seller control, including refunds or combining postage after ordering. In response I have made most of my deliveries free, but please be aware that I may have to send multiple orders in separate boxes. Also, international shipping is handled through ebay's Global Shipping system, which sets the delivery costs. Sorry about that!
