This is a marvelous antique soup tureen in the Alexandria pattern by Wallis Gimson & Co. The tureen has an elegant rectangular shape. It measures 11 inches across from handle edge to handle edge, and it is 6 1/4 inches wide. It measures 2 3/4 inches tall to the rim and approximately 4 1/2 inches tall to the top of the cover handle.

The bottom of the tureen is marked in brown with the mark of Wallis Gimson & Co. It also has a British Registry mark with the number 39268, which indicates that the tureen was produced in the year 1885.

The condition of this tureen is very good. There are some minor irregularities in the glaze from the manufacturing process. One corner of the cover has some small chips (as seen in photo #8). Otherwise, I find no imperfections with this wonderful piece.
