Listed English Artist George Fanshawe* Signed, on lower right, this Majestic Landscape. It is an Original Pastel on paper, c. 2000. It is Titled, on the mat, lower left, "Lavender near Puget France" and depicts clear, crisp lavender in the foreground and a small cluster of white houses, which all lay under wispy, almost mist-like clouds. It is a prime example of his landscape work. The color palette, especially below, is simply stunning and wonderfully contrasted against the mottled, misty sky. Artist's stamp, on reverse (see last image) states name and medium (pastel - even though it really looks like gouache/watercolor to us - so sharp and deeply pigmented).
2 1/2" Wide, Carved Gold reverse moulding with a bead detail on the inner lip, a Triple mat (dark green over gold over French (inking border lines using a ruling pen and filling the space between two of the lines with a watercolor wash) beige mat) and glass are included complimentary in this listing.
Image opening measures 10 X 14 and is in Very Good to Excellent condition.
Outside measure of the frame is 20 1/4 X 24 1/4 and is in Very Good condition.
Please carefully examine all images for condition.

*George Fanshawe, (b. 1952), trained at Goldsmith's College from 1971-1974. He spent much of his youth exploring the marshlands next to the River Thames at Erith and many of his landscapes include mist, low-level views through reeds and light on water. In 1972 he lived for a period in Southern Germany and it was here, when chalking on pavements with German art students, that his passion for the use of pastel as a medium was born. He became well known for his haunting use of light and evocative color in his landscapes. His unique use of fine texture and detail in pastel has led to a style between impressionism and photo-realism. He is one of a small number of British artists to have been accepted for architectural commissions by the New Academy Gallery, Windmill Street, London.
