All parts
are new aftermarket replacement parts manufactured by Cougars Unlimited LLC and
come with a 2-year limited factory warranty. They are replacement parts to be
used to replace the original Ford parts used in there sequencing tail light
systems on models that originally came with sequencing tail lights. They are
made to plug and play into the original mounting and wiring harness. They are
not designed to be used to convert non-sequencing tail light systems to
sequencing tail lights.
This
sequential system kit eliminates the mechanical motor-driven sequencer and directional
relay used on the rubber pad in trunks of the 1968 (built after 5/1/1968) Thunderbirds.
This one system module replaces the parts found in the Thunderbird trunk.
Sequential flasher motor (the noisy one), and the directional relay (the big
one). It plugs into the original wiring harness and mounts in the original
location without any modifications.

IF CONVERTING TO LED BULBS
*This
sequencer system unit is fully compatible with LED or Incandescent bulbs. But
because LED bulbs do not draw enough current to activate the thermal indicator
relay under the dash, your indicator lights on your dash will stop working. To
solve this problem Cougars Unlimited makes an electronic indicator relay
replacement. This electronic indicator relay is fully compatible with LED or
Incandescent bulbs. For 1968 Thunderbird, all models, use the 1968 Thunderbird
Turn Signal Replacement Indicator Relay C8SZ-13A366-DR.
Cougars
Unlimited LLC strongly recommends using WCCC1157RPR (Red for rear) LED bulbs
and WCCC1157YPR (Yellow for front) LED bulbs. They have a built in current
limiting diode. This stops the reverse current flow that causes sequential turn
signal systems to malfunction.
Extensive
research has been put into the choosing of proper connectors, gauge of wires,
industrial grade connectors and electronic components. They are nice! All
aspects of the manufacturing process from design to testing are overseen by an
electronic engineer with over 40 years of experience, as a result these units

*NOTE: TURN SIGNAL SWITCH – All turn signal switches sold by Cougars Unlimited LLC are for use with LED bulbs only. The reason for this is applicable vehicles are now over 50 years old the current that sequencing systems draw have greatly increased over time. This is because of the original wiring harnesses and connectors are deteriorating increasing the resistance. Higher the resistance the higher the current draw across the switch. The current is now so high on most vehicles that it exceeds the ratting of the switches, causing them to prematurely fail. The only solution is to convert to LED bulbs, they draw far less current. On vehicles that have converted to LED the turn signal switches are not failing. The only other solution is to replace the complete wiring harness which is expensive, and in most cases not possible.
