Our Opinion: The Zebra ZM400 is Zebra's best selling industrial printer model, based upon the original 1990's Z4000 and the later Z4m, and sharing most of the same mechanical parts as the latest ZT410 & ZT411 versions. While the latest model sports a fancier LCD display, prints slightly quicker (the ZM400 prints up to 25cm / 4inches per second anyway) and has Bluetooth connectivity, the print output is identical. Indeed, the printhead strip is identical, only in a different housing. The ZM400 is more solidly built too and is therefore ideally placed in a tough factory environment. 

The 203dpi print resolution is suitable for the majority of label requirements, printing barcodes clearly and text as small as 6 points. To print smaller you will want to look at a higher resolution version, but printheads for higher resolution machines are quite a bit more expensive to replace, so be sure you choose the right model variant. 

If it's a fast, quality print you need, from an industrial strength machine, you really can't go wrong here. Fully compatible with all Windows versions, for such a low cost there is little out there to compare.
