This is an interesting piece of watchmaking history, sold and marketed under the Marconi brand name, and signed with the "Snowite" trademark on the inner case. HW patented the proprietary chrome-plated zinc in February 1927, and with it, embossed a guarantee under the emblem: "GUARANTEED TO STAY BLUE WHITE." The result is an impressively tarnish and stain resistant mirror finish on the inside, and intricate detailed patterning on the outside. The caseback includes a small shield shaped engravable area as well.
The escapement is an authentic screwed bi-metallic model, which corroborates the estimated dating to between 1920 and 1930, as later watches employed other measures to increase accuracy in variable climates.
There are at least four service engravings inside the case.
The original dial shows no signs of overhaul, and exhibits a fairly uniform patina, consistent with its age and history. The face is signed "Marconi Standard - Precision."
The 15-Jewel movement is signed "Marconi Standard," and appears original to the timepiece.
Movement diameter is 41mm and the exterior case diameter is 49mm.
