Vintage Ovation / Super Adamas 1687-5 Black
Unknown year, but serial number is 6944-85 and I cannot find this number anywhere in order to date it.
The label is hand signed by CW Kaman II. Custom shop color: Black with Gold glitter.
I purchased it used in 2006. It had been in storage for ten years before that.
Condition is very good.
Sound is excellent! A true guitar player's guitar.
A very nice person has helped me date the guitar. His message is as follows:
"I can help with that date. Your 1687 (serial 6944-85) dates it to late 1992. The "-5" behind the model number indicates color (black, of course). -2 was red, -8 was blue, etc. First production model was 1977. Last production year was 1997. It was reintroduced again in 2005. Retail price in 1992 was $2799. Ovation's flagship model. Extraordinary guitars. Cheers!"
