This is a rare paper cylinder from a Hammond No. 2 typewriter. I think it will also fit the No. 12's and Multiplexes. It is in very good-to-excellent condition. The cylinder is round and intact with no deformations, dents or breaks in the wire mesh.
There is some minor corrosion on the metal pan in the bottom, particularly on the underside where it is not normally seen. (The brassy color on the ends of the inside of the metal pan is a reflection from a light- not the actual color.) The solder joints connecting the mesh to the pan are solid.
This is a hard-to-find part and will make a great upgrade if yours is damaged or missing.
