Leather Primer
Our Leather Primer is the essential pre-treatment for all leather recolouring projects. Designed to prepare the surface for long lasting, even coverage of our Leather Colourants. For the best results, use our Leather Prep Kit, which includes our Ultimate Leather Cleaner for complete surface preparation.
Leather Primer – The Key to Professional Leather Recolouring
For a truly professional leather restoration, deep cleaning isn’t enough, you also need to prepare the surface of the leather. Our Leather Primer is an essential step in the leather recolouring process, designed to remove any residual finishes, oils or contaminants. It ensures proper adhesion, preventing future peeling, cracking or colour transfer of our Leather Colourants.
Perfect for full restorations or complete colour changes, this Primer is a must have for professional looking results on leather sofas, furniture, car interiors and more. As it dries, the Primer leaves the leather feeling noticeably softer and gives it a subtle, natural sheen - instantly enhancing the feel and look of the leather, even before recolouring.
For the best results, use our Leather Prep Kit, which combines our Ultimate Leather Cleaner and Leather Primer to ensure a fully prepped surface for a flawless recolouring finish.
Storing and using our Leather Primer
PLEASE NOTE: Always test on an inconspicuous area before use. Fully read and understand the instructions provided before use. Not suitable for use on Suede or Nubuck.
How to Apply our Leather Primer
Step 1
Before applying the Primer, ensure the leather surface is clean and completely dry. For best results, we recommend cleaning with our Ultimate Leather Cleaner to remove any dirt or residue.
Step 2
Apply the Leather Primer to a clean, lint-free cloth and wipe over the leather in circular motions. Ensure the entire surface is evenly covered. It’s normal to see some colour transfer onto your cloth during this stage.
Step 3
Once applied, allow the Primer to fully dry for at least 1 hour in a room at a moderate temperature. Once dry, follow the instructions included with your chosen Leather Colourants or Repair Kit to complete your restoration.
