RAF Battle Dress Jacket by Kay Canvas

The RAF Suits, Blue Grey aircrews (latter called battledress) were issued as it was found that the 4 pocket service dress was not efficient for Aircrew and a design similar to 1937 battle dress was trialled in 1939 and issued from December 1940 to all Flying Crew. Officers and men wore the same blue grey battle dress only other ranks wore the Albatross on the sleeve of the jacket.

It was not until October 1943 that War Service Dress (battledress) became a widespread issue item to all including Officers, NCO's, ground personnel and Aircrewmen. The battledress tunic was different to the Army battledress in that it had a lined stand up collar and the pockets were pointed and based on the 4 pocket SD tunic.

• 3 point pocket flaps with pleats
• Adjustable waistband
