This is the vertical "Z" axis from a CMM Coordinate Measuring Machine;
It functioned as a 3rd & 4th AXIS Linear Stage with 10" of vertical travel AND turns through 360 degrees of rotation
We do not know the manufacturer of this linear stage
It might make a good starting point for one of a kind CNC milling machine?
24" long O.A.
2.50" across square chrome shaft,
2.37" dia. at round end on right in first picture (round end is 2-7/8" long)
Outer case is about 4.6" dia. and about 10" long with adjustable gibbs on all four sides
Square shaft has 10" of vertical travel
2 Timken tapered roller bearings/cones shown are L521949 with a L521914 outer tapered shell/cup (only one cup is included, buyer should replace these bearings)
Brass ring driver gear for rotary movement appears to be in good shape
Z axis slides smoothly
Does anybody out there recognize this? manufacturer?
