Large-format 1871 antique lithographed map of Middlesex County,
Massachusetts in original hand color, printed more than 145 years ago.
- The image area measures a
generous 42 x 58 cm [16½" x 22¾"], and details include
wagon roads, railways, villages, town boundaries, post
offices, natural features, and individual homes and
farms!
- The map is drawn on a scale of 1:158,400, or 2½ miles to
an inch, and the topography is shown in relief, giving
the map a very handsome, dramatic appearance.
- The coverage area is centered on Middlesex County and
also includes lands to the
west and east, from Holden and Wachusett Mountain to Ipswich, Hull, and
Marblehead Harbor.

Fitchburg Railroad, Walden Pond, Shrewsbury, Harvard College, Methuen, Spoon Hill,
Littleton
Village, the Danvers & Newburyport Railroad, Bedford,

Apple Tree, Cambridge, Bolton, Stering Junction, Waltham, Lexington,
Brookline,
Wayland, Acton, Newton, Framingham, and Chelmsford.

map is in very good condition, complete and intact, with a vertical
center fold, as issued, a bit of faint spotting in the upper margin,
and no
rips, tears, or writing. It
is printed on a heavy paper and is blank on the back. Please
