Why Use An Exoracing 38mm Wastegate Blanking Plate?
Our exoracing stainless steel block-off plates are designed for manifolds with an existing external 38mm wastegate port. A turbocharger with an internal wastegate or actuator attached often needs a solution to blank off the existing wastegate port on the exhaust manifold.
This is where our Exoracing 38mm external wastegate blanking plates come in. Cut to the perfect size, they are bolted over the existing 38mm hole, and you've got a fully blanked wastegate port.
Until now, the most common way to achieve this was to get the port welded up, where you would need to pay someone to laser cut a flange and weld it over the existing 38mm port. This method eliminates the need for welding, and you can bolt this in place within minutes using basic hand tools.
These plates block the hole and prevent exhaust gas leakage from the port, which is exactly what you want when converting over to an internally actuated turbocharger.

Please follow the instructions below to install your new Exoracing 38mm wastegate blanking plate correctly. If you are unsure of any of the steps below, please contact a professional who can assist with installation.
- First, ensure the exhaust manifold is cold to the touch to reduce the risk of burns.
- Next, if you currently have a wastegate attached to the exhaust manifold, remove it using the 2 bolts to the manifold and 2 bolts to the outlet pipe. Also, remove any gaskets or necessary vacuum lines that are still connected.
- Measure the exhaust manifold 38mm flange to ensure it is perfectly flat and will not leak exhaust gas after installing the new 38mm blanking plate.
- Once you are happy it is completely flat, go ahead and place the blanking plate over the flange and tighten both bolts to the OEM torque setting.
- Run the car through a few heat cycles using the new internally actuated turbo to make sure there are no leaks anywhere. Then, retorque the blanking plate bolts, as they are very common to come loose after a while.
