Michail Vladimirovich Tkachenko was born in Nizhnoe, Voroshilovgrad Region in Ukraine in 1925. He studied at the House of People's Creativity in Kiev before the Second World War and at the Lvov Institute of Applied and Decorative Art in 1947-53. The artist was active in Lvov in Ukraine and taught at the Lvov College of Applied Arts (1958-62) and Lvov Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (1962-80s). He died in 1999.
