Vasili Sergeevich Karkots was born in Banovka in the province of
Orenburg in 1926 in a working class family. From 1947 to 1952 he studied
at the Tashkent Art School. In 1952-54 he lived and worked in Chimboy
and taught art at the Chimboy Pedagogical School. After 1954 he was
active in Chimkent, Kazakhstan until 1975, thereafter in Nikolaev,
Ukraine. He started exhibiting in 1961. Karkots mainly specialized in
landscape and genre paintings. He died in Nikolaev in 2003.
The artist was a Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. His
works are in museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
