About the Artwork

Published in 1857 during the late Edo period, Evening Glow at Seta (Seta no sekishō) is one of the most celebrated designs from Utagawa Hiroshige’s vertical series Eight Views of Ōmi. The scene depicts the historic Seta Long Bridge (Seta no Karahashi) spanning the river as it flows out of Lake Biwa, framed by dramatic, layered mountain peaks under a radiant twilight sky.

The composition highlights Hiroshige's mastery of atmospheric colour and aerial perspective, employing delicate bokashicolor gradations in deep indigo, forest green, and fiery sunset orange. Small sailing boats drift across the water.

Its classic Japanese aesthetic, rich organic palette, and architectural balance make it a striking focal point for modern minimalist spaces, living rooms, and private studies.

Image size – please note!

Paper / media
Choose from 4 different fine art media:

Matte art paper 230 gsm. Popular standard option, with a smooth white matte surface. Colours are superb on this cost-effective choice.

Satin lustre 260 gsm. For those who prefer a satin sheen on a heavier, smooth white paper. Stunningly vivid colour rendering!

Canvas matte 350 gsm. Cotton canvas for that authentic fine art look. Canvas is supplied in a tube (not stretched). Frame it like a standard print.

Fine art textured 300 gsm. The luxury option, with a subtle cream / off-white textured surface, like watercolour paper. This heavyweight paper is gorgeous!

Ink
We use a full set of 12 water-based vegan archival inks to ensure fade resistance and longevity. Every care is taken over print and paper quality.
