A celebration of one of Britain’s most charming seabirds.
Inspired by my own visit to the beautiful island of Skomer, A Puffin’s Paradise captures the character and charm of these wonderful little birds in a colourful coastal setting.
With their unmistakable bright beaks, striking black and white plumage and delightful personalities, puffins make a wonderful subject for embroidery.
This design combines detailed puffins, rugged coastal scenery and delicate sea thrift flowers, offering an enjoyable and rewarding project for those who love bringing nature to life through needle and thread.
A Project for Experienced Stitchers
Best suited to experienced stitchers, this design offers plenty of opportunity to explore different stitches, textures and techniques.
The design is predominantly worked using a single strand of DMC cotton, with two strands used in selected areas. The thread quantities supplied are calculated on this basis, with a little extra included.
Make it your own! Follow the suggested colours and stitches, or let your creativity take over. Experiment with different techniques, add your own touches and create a finished piece that’s uniquely yours.

The design is permanently printed directly onto the fabric and does not wash away.
The printed outlines act as your stitching guide, allowing you to embroider directly over them as you work.
About This Design
Unlike many of the embroidery kits in my shop, A Puffin’s Paradise is my own original design, inspired by a visit to the beautiful island of Skomer.
During my visit, I took numerous photographs of the puffins and their wonderful coastal surroundings. These personal photographs were used as references in developing the design with the assistance of AI imagery, helping me capture the character and atmosphere of a place I had experienced firsthand.
The design has not been copied from another embroidery designer’s work.
Every element of the embroidery process has then been personally undertaken by me. I have stitched the complete design, selected the DMC thread colours, developed the stitching techniques and produced the detailed illustrated instructions using photographs of my own work.
The finished embroidery shown in the photographs is my actual hand-stitched piece.
This is not an imported, ready-made kit. Each kit is personally prepared and assembled by me in small batches here in Wales, using genuine DMC embroidery threads and carefully selected quality cotton fabric.
