Cased Corkscrew With Twist Cover pocket corkscrew inscribed on one side with ‘King George IV’ and on the other ‘Scotch Whisky’. These were produced by The Distillers Company Ltd around the 1920s to 1930s. The ‘King George IV’ whisky was a commercial blended brand.
Whisky and other spirits shifted to cork closures well into the 20th century before crown caps took over entirely, making small cased pocket/picnic advertising corkscrews like this a popular item for distilleries during the interwar period.
Designed with a metal sheath (likely silver-plated brass) that twists or snaps over the sharp steel worm (the screw) for safe pocket or travel carrying.
Measures 10cm long with stopper on and closed.
In excellent condition apart from a barely discernible tiny mark on letter ‘o’ in engraving of George.
