Vintage Piaget Swiss Manual-Wind Watch – Black Dial – 17 Jewel Movement – OEM Piaget Buckle – Custom Stingray Strap
Offered here is a distinctive vintage Piaget manual-wind wristwatch featuring a black dial, stainless-steel cushion-style case and signed Swiss 17-jewel mechanical movement.
The watch is believed to date to approximately the late 1960s through the 1970s, based on the case design, dial styling and construction. The exact factory reference and production year have not been independently confirmed through the Piaget archives, so I am not going to invent a reference number simply to make the listing sound more precise than the evidence supports.
What I can show you is the actual watch.
The watch features a Piaget-signed dial, signed crown, Piaget-signed Swiss 17-jewel mechanical movement and OEM Piaget buckle. Detailed photographs of all of these components are included.
The watch is fitted to a high-quality custom-made stingray leather strap. The strap itself is aftermarket/custom and is not represented as an original Piaget strap. The buckle is a genuine OEM Piaget buckle and close-up photographs of its markings are included.
Actual measurements
The watch has been physically measured with digital calipers, and the measurement photographs are included in the listing.
Case width excluding crown: approximately 36.73 mm Case width including crown: approximately 39.47 mm Case length top-to-bottom: approximately 34.67 mm
These are measurements of the actual watch being sold rather than measurements taken from an online reference.
Because of the cushion-style case shape, the watch has considerably more wrist presence than a conventional round 36 mm vintage dress watch. A wrist photograph is included so you can judge the proportions for yourself.
Movement and running video
A video is included showing the exact watch running.
The video shows the center seconds hand operating from the dial side and also shows the mechanical movement running with the caseback removed.
The movement is visibly signed PIAGET, SWISS and SEVENTEEN / 17 JEWELS.
Rather than asking a buyer to rely on a description alone, I have included detailed photographs and video so the movement, case, crown, buckle, measurements and overall condition can be examined directly.
Condition
This is a vintage mechanical watch and shows normal age-related wear.
The stainless-steel case has scratches, marks and surface wear consistent with a vintage watch that has been worn. These are visible in the close-up photographs and have intentionally not been hidden or digitally removed.
The dial presents very well and the unusual black dial combined with the polished cushion case gives the watch a strong late-1960s/1970s aesthetic.
The watch is running at the time of listing, as demonstrated in the accompanying video.
As with any vintage mechanical watch, no guarantee is made regarding future accuracy, power reserve, water resistance or future service requirements unless specifically stated otherwise. Vintage watches should be treated accordingly.
The strap is custom/non-OEM. The buckle is OEM Piaget.
Full disclosure
Every photograph in this listing is of the actual watch being sold.
No stock photographs are being used.
I have included close-up photographs of the dial, crown, case, crystal, case profile, movement, inside caseback, OEM buckle, strap, actual caliper measurements and the watch on the wrist.
The exact factory reference and production year have not been confirmed through Piaget archives, so the stated date range is an informed estimate based on the watch itself.
The watch shown in the photographs and videos is the exact watch the buyer will receive.
Please review all photographs, measurements and videos carefully before purchasing.
This is a very distinctive vintage Piaget with excellent period character, a black dial that is far more interesting than the typical vintage dress-watch presentation, and a custom stingray/OEM Piaget buckle combination that gives it a unique look without permanently altering the watch
