Cast Brass Spice Box (Besamim)
Mid-Century Modern Style, Vintage

This vintage Besamim spice box is a traditional piece used during the Havdalah ceremony at the conclusion of the Sabbath. The vessel is crafted from cast metal, likely brass, featuring a textured green verdigris-style patina that contrasts with the polished brass highlights. The lid is adorned with raised Hebrew lettering encircling the top, used to hold fragrant spices such as cloves or cinnamon sticks for the ritual blessing.

• Cast metal construction with a distinctive green verdigris finish
• Lid features raised Hebrew inscription reflecting the spice blessing
• Finial includes a brass flag with a Star of David (Magen David) emblem
• Stamped on the underside of the square pedestal base
• Dimensions: Approximately 7" height x 3" width x 3" length

Condition: Good vintage condition. The flag finial is currently detached from the top of the lid but is included for repair. The metal surfaces show natural aged patina and minor surface wear consistent with ritual use. The interior contains some remnants of spices. The base is stable and the lid fits securely onto the cup.
