Antique NYMPHENBURG Porcelain Biscuit Figurine CHILD READING Numbered EXC

Size 3.75" high with a rectangular base of 1.75" x 1.5"

Beautiful fine white porcelain biscuit figurine of a young boy seated upon a pedestal and reading a book. It is based upon the very famous 19th-century sculpture by Dihl et Geurhard, sometimes attributed to the Italian sculptor Antonio. In the early part of the 20th century, these were widely recreated in marble, stone, and porcelain biscuit. 

The particular small figurine was made circa 1900. It has an embossed number of 1458/g and a shell-like symbol plus the word Germany on the back.  

A graceful and elegant depiction, featuring carefully rendered details such as the front corners of the pedestal base being scoop-cut

Looks gorgeous from any angle 

A charming size, perfect for a desktop, bookshelf, or favored location. 

Excellent antique condition but for some minor surface soil from age [not stained]- should be extremely easy to clean. No nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, crazing, fading or repair. Flawless. 

Highly collectible and very rare estate piece. Wonderful for a serious collector and would look beautiful on display
