6 Saucer Plates [for cups] approx. 5 5/8"across
1 Plate with a slightly upturned rim- perfect for snacks, a small amount of cookies or dessert, etc.- 7 13/16" across x 1.5" high
1 Large Teapot with 1 matching lid- 11.5" long x 7" high
1 Large Double Handled Sugar Bowl with 1 lid-
Sugar Bowl is approx. 7" long x 5.5" high
1 Creamer- approx. 6" long x 4.5" high
Very charming. It is almost unheard of to find a large/rare set such as this in such amazing condition.
Features EARLY genuine Georgian-era Staffordshire porcelain, handmade in England. This style of pink painted lusterware was only made circa 1820-1840. These were NOT marked Staffordshire as this was not in practice when this set was made.
This piece has shallow wide bowls as cup saucers, which was the proper way that tea saucers were made in this era. Some people actually drank tea from the saucers, and this was entirely proper.
An absolutely magnificent set- A softly scalloped body shape to the pot, creamer, and sugar bowl. They have an extremely exaggerated raised 'lip' border protecting the lids.
Teapot lid has a slanted knob at top and a small hole to let steam escape
Handles and lids have gorgeous raised/embossed pressed leaves.
The cups have most of their pattern INSIDE of them, with small leaves scattered around the outer body.
Pretty tiny laurel leaf trim around borders
Tiny round orange flowers hand painted above the stems
The pink has a coppery sheen, which gives it the lusterware name
Excellent antique condition- there are some absolutely 'to be expected for age' very tiny chips around the inner rim of the teapot where the lid sits- nothing large or major at all. Sugar bowl lid has one tiny chip along the edge of rim. See last 2 photos. The entire set has NO darkened crazing or foxing, NO cracks NO repairs and NO damage other than what is mentioned above. An astonishing set. In marvelous shape.
