An exceptional, highly collectible 10-inch brass-backed backsaw made by renowned Sheffield toolmaker Richard Groves & Sons at the Beehive Works, retailed through local tool merchant G. Musgrave of Lincoln.
Featuring early Victorian dual-notch brass split-nuts, an open beech handle with traditional lamb's-tongue carving, and crisp maker stamps along the spine.

Spine & Stamps: The heavy brass back retains a superb natural patina with deep, highly legible maker, retailer, and trademark stamps.
Handle: Original shaped beech handle in complete condition with both top and bottom horns intact.
Shows genuine age-related surface wear, scratches, and character mark staining, but remains strong and tight to the blade.
Fixings: Both original brass split-nuts are complete and flush.
Blade: Steel plate has a rich antique patina with minor surface oxidation/pitting consistent with age. Teeth are complete and straight along the cutting edge.
