This book is in Very Good condition. There are no signatures, bookplates, or markings of any kind. The gilt lettering and illustration to the spine and front cover is bright and unrubbed. The pages are clean and free of any foxing. This book comes with it's rare original dust jacket. The jacket is in Good condition with some light wear. This is a First Edition, printed in 2006 by Riverhead Books. A rare find in this condition complete with it's original dust jacket.

Rise of the Ogre is an autobiography about the virtual band Gorillaz. Ostensibly written by the four band-members in collaboration with (actual) Gorillaz musician and official scribe Cass Browne, the book is 304 pages long and is extensively illustrated. The book details the fictional life-stories of the band-members: Murdoc Niccals, 2D, Russel Hobbs and Noodle. It contains previously unknown secrets of the band, such as future plans of the movie, new and rare art by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett, the "low down" on Kong Studios, their headquarters, and the story of the truth behind the "El Mañana" video. The book blends fact and fiction throughout, interspersing commentary from the fictional band members with actual quotes from their creators, collaborators and critics. The front cover of the book, when flipped sideways, is a mirage of Murdoc Niccals' pet raven 'Cortez'.

Gorillaz are an English virtual band created in 1998 by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. The band consists of four animated members: 2D (lead vocals, keyboard), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar), Noodle (guitar, keyboard, and backing vocals) and Russel Hobbs (drums and percussion). These members are completely fictional and are not personas of any "real life" musicians involved in the project. Their fictional universe is explored through the band's website and music videos, as well as a number of other media, such as short cartoons. The music is a collaboration between various musicians, with Albarn being the only permanent musical contributor. Their style is an amalgamation of genres, with influences including rock, alternative, Britpop, trip hop, hip hop, electronica, indie, dub, reggae and pop.
