The amazing fact of this bottle is the glass maker whose skills made the glass look like pink quartz. The monkey holds a large peach of immortality.  This may be a reference to the Monkey King who stole all the peaches at the Queen Mother of the West's birthday celebration in Western Paradise.  The Monkey King is also a character in a Ming Dynasty vernacular novel, the best English translation is the 4 volume Journey to the West by Anthony C Yu. The novel is based on a true story of a monk who traveled to India in order to bring Buddhist sutras back to China.  In this dramatized novel, the Monkey was a traveling companion of the monk Tang Sanzang. 

The monkey bottle is carved in the round in good anatomical details.  The opening is on the top of its head.  It is fitted with a agate top.

Dating for this bottle cannot be ascertain.  It would have been made after 1970.  The overall appearance is very well crafted and the details of the face, the hands and the feet are nice.  The dimensions are 1.5 inches wide, 1 inch deep and 2.5 inches high.
