A PAIR of original WW2 RAF / ARMY maps of ITALY entitled "SALERNO" and "NAPOLI".
The "SALERNO" map features a security designation of "NOT TO BE PUBLISHED" due to the inclusion of a key of "AIR INFORMATION" provided by HQ RAF Middle East.
Produced in May and June of 1943 for the Allied Invasion of Italy, codenamed "OPERATION AVALANCHE", they cover the shallow beaches of the GULF of SALERNO where the main invasion force came ashore. (The city itself was captured the same day by BRITISH COMMANDOS.) The "NAPOLI" sheet continues the coastline North towards Rome.
In 'field used' condition, with heavy creasing and a few holes here and there. (The "SALERNO" sheet is in the better condition of the two.)
Will be shipped as per their existing fold lines.
