A METEORITE THAT LOOKS LIKE IT CAME FROM ANOTHER WORLD

Northwest Africa 15915 is officially classified as an Ungrouped Achondrite, Mg-Rich Diopsidite.


Its mineralogy is extraordinarily unusual.


The meteorite is dominated by coarse, magnesium-rich diopside, producing a distinctive crystalline rock unlike the overwhelming majority of known meteorites.
