Below you'll find my comprehensive grading of each 45 based on the official Goldmines grading system. These are the best examples that i've upgraded to from my personal collection in 50 years of collecting. They will be graded on both visual and play condition of the vinyl on the A side. B sides don't always grade as high due to rougher handling, sitting on the turntable, or sliding across the spindle but can be play graded on request. All VG+, VG++ and M- 45's will have the B sides visually graded. All flaws, if any, will be noted including labels for stickers, writing, fading, tears, or residue. In most cases they will come in a factory sleeve, however the sleeves may have been repaired, faded or imperfect due to their age and aren't included in value. Goldmines' Official Gradings:
Near Mint (NM or M-): Full gloss both sides. Almost perfect; may have been opened and played a few times but shows no significant handling or playback defects. Light intro or dead wax crackles from previous play is acceptable. Very minor sleeve scuffs may be visible under close inspection. The labels have to be clean on both sides with only the lightest signs of wear. The A sides will be play graded and the B sides will be visually graded, unless requested. This grading will be a premium value. See pics.
Excellent (EX / VG++): Near full gloss vinyl that plays great. A side play graded. Only very light intro / outro noise of background crackles at the lead in. Only light marks, visually, either sleeve or light fingernail/spindle lines that don't affect play. May have small marks, sticker/sticker residue, name etc. on labels, with no tears, unless very small tear from sticker removal which will be evident in the photo. B sides can be play graded on request. Factory sleeves, unless picture sleeves, may be provided but aren't included in grading or price as most have been repaired or damaged. New plain sleeves can be substituted on request. This grading is 75% of M- value. See pics.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Signs of many plays but plays well. i.e.; Noticeable scuffs or marks and/or light surface noise on A side, light crackles or pops in quiet parts or lead-in or trail off. B side graded on request. All 45's this grade will have light crackles intro and may have marked labels from writing or stickers, sticker residue, small tears where sticker removed. This grading is about the playing. No deep scratches that affect play, no warps that affect play, or cracks. Light edge fade may be visible but doesn't affect play. Still has some of its original gloss. See pics. This grading is 50% value of M- because they are not perfect copies. Factory sleeves may be provided but aren't included in grading or price as most have been repaired or damaged. New plain sleeves can be substituted on request.
