Lightweight Classic with Modern Electronics

The Sadowsky MetroLine Vintage M/J bass takes a tried-and-true design and turbocharges it with lightweight playability, high-performance electronics, and premium appointments. The MetroLine Vintage M/J features a highly resonant chambered American swamp ash body with sleek J-style contours, a bolt-on maple neck with a fast playing feel, and a 12-inch-radius, 21-fret fingerboard for fleet-fingered maneuverability. As for tone, the MetroLine Vintage brings the thunder, powered by its noise-canceling M/J pickup configuration, Vintage Tone Control, and active 2-band preamp. Loaded with top-drawer hardware and sporting a dazzling, durable finish, this bass is meticulously crafted in Germany and stands as a stellar example of Sadowsky's decades-long tradition of industry-leading design and elite craftsmanship.

Peak craftsmanship from head to heel

Longtime Sadowsky aficionados are no doubt aware of the company’s reputation for uncompromising craftsmanship. That said, this MetroLine Vintage M/J is a complete jaw-dropper. While the casual observer’s attention will instantly be drawn to the artful pairing of this instrument’s offset-waist J-style body with an MM-style oval pickguard, discerning musicians will take note of its carefully calibrated heft and balance, courtesy of its slightly undersized dimensions and strategically chambered construction. The MetroLine Vintage M/J’s fast bolt-on neck, crowned with a smoothly buffed, precision-dressed fretboard, is designed as a platform for executing demanding high-speed technical passages, so naturally, you’ll find playing more relaxed grooves to be a walk in the park. With the strings anchored by a tedur nut and a custom Sadowsky Quick String Release Bridge, this bass generates tonal solidity, rich resonance, and prodigious sustain, all efficiently transmitted to the pickups and active preamp circuitry.

Premium Sadowsky pickups and preamp

Spec’d with two strategically positioned custom pickups, the Sadowsky MetroLine Vintage M/J bass packs a thunderous punch. These high-octane passive pickups deliver muscular low end, aggressive mids, and sweet highs, whether you’re going DI or plugging into a massive amp stack. The hum-canceling signals from the stacked J-style neck pickup and MM-style bridge humbucker are routed to Sadowsky’s proprietary preamp, delivering a strong, clean output signal that can drive long cable runs and complex processing chains without a hint of noise. The control set includes Volume, Balance, stacked Treble/Bass controls, and Sadowsky’s Vintage Tone Control (VTC), which rolls off the high end as you dial it back. Additionally, Sweetwater bassists note that the VTC knob is push-pull, allowing you to bypass the active preamp for fully passive operation. The MetroLine Vintage M/J also features mini-toggle switches for each pickup: select between Series, Parallel, and Single-coil modes for the MM-style humbucker, and between Series and Single-coil modes for the stacked J-style pickup. Its shrewdly designed electronics package makes the Sadowsky MetroLine Vintage M/J an absolute tone beast capable of nailing the perfect vibe for any genre.

Expertly crafted in Germany

Sadowsky MetroLine instruments are manufactured in a climate-neutral facility in Germany. Sadowsky basses are known for their light weight, and tonewoods are carefully chosen to ensure that each model weighs no more than 8.9 pounds. Many of the player-centric design enhancements Roger Sadowsky developed for his custom instruments, such as sleek, undersized bodies, come standard on MetroLine instruments. These appointments result in outstanding Sadowsky tone, distinguished by excellent definition, robust presence, and extraordinary sweetness.
