An 20th century Chinese famille rose porcelain planter pot featuring a deep cylindrical body with a flared rim decorated with small floral sprays on the flattened top lip, while the outer rim and base are bordered with decorative enamel fretwork bands.
Hand painted in a polychrome palette of vibrant pink, orange, turquoise, green, blue, and yellow enamels, the exterior shows continuous narrative figural scenes depicting elegant court maidens and scholars engaging in traditional pastimes outdoors beside garden stone railings, low tables, and trees.
One side displays vertical lines of black calligraphic poetic text flanked by red seal marks—translating to: "On a spring day walking through a fragrant garden, the east wind gently stirs the poplars and willows as young women in their private quarters read, write, and paint, enjoying a lasting sense of tranquil delight".
The interior and unglazed flat base reveal a raw ceramic drainage hole at the centre.
In great condition with no chips or cracks.
Diameter: 37 cm - Height: 32.5 cm - Base diameter: 18.5 cm
