Universal testing and application instructions
(Step-by-step troubleshooting to identify defective components)
Preparation: Before starting diagnostic work, switch off the vehicle ignition completely and remove the ignition key. Always follow the vehicle manufacturer's safety regulations when working on vehicle electronics.
Limit the source of the error: Disconnect the cable connection (the compact plug) of the component to be tested (e.g. under the seat, at the belt tensioner or on the respective safety component).
Attach the test tool: Insert the contacts of the test simulator directly into the vehicle's connector (the supply line that comes from the control unit). There is no need to pay attention to polarity.
System test: Switch the ignition back on and read the error memory using a suitable diagnostic reader.
Evaluate result:
Can the error be deleted now? the system will say ?OK? displayed? Then the supply line and the control unit are intact and the error lies in the previously separated component itself.
Does the error persist? Then the problem lies deeper in the wiring harness or directly on the control unit.
Conclusion: After completing the troubleshooting, remove the diagnostic tool and professionally restore the vehicle to its original condition.
