Offered for your consideration is a Polk Audio model SL2000 1 inch Silver Coil Dome tweeter removed from my Monitor 5jr speakers, USA-manufactured in 1985. This “moving coil high frequency radiator” was also used in same-era versions of the Monitor 5, 7, 10, 11T, SDA, SRS, and possibly others. Buyer is responsible for accurately verifying this SL2000 tweeter’s suitability for their intended application.

This Polk tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. The soft dome is in great shape with no dents, craters, or other blemishes, as pictured. Plus there are no cracks or scratches on the thick plastic faceplate, or any oxidation on the large ceramic-ferrite magnet. Plus, the +/- terminals are keyed for polarity (the + side is marked under the gasket) and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this SL2000 tweeter is remarkably well-preserved.
Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds fantastic—very clear and detailed, with plenty of beyond-audibility sparkle when approaching its 26kHz upper limit. It’s quite a sturdy design with high power capability that was used in, for example, the 250W-rated Monitor 11T. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 7.1-7.9Ω, consistent with a nominal 8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 4½” wide / 3⅜” high, it stands roughly 1¼” tall (incl. the dome), and the mounting holes are spaced 3⅞” apart longer way/ 2⅝” shorter way, c-t-c.
This is a super find for someone that has a blown or damaged SL2000 dome tweeter in their suitable Polk Audio Monitor speaker(s) from the 1980’s. Plus, it’s a smart back-up to have on hand since they’re long discontinued and nice examples are becoming scarcer (and more costly) every year.
