This vintage White Border era postcard features a 'Head of Dried Lacquer' from China's T'ang Dynasty (618-906 A.D.), part of the permanent collection at the Art Institute of Chicago. The image captures the serene, contemplative expression and characteristic features of the period, such as the elongated earlobes. The reverse side includes the museum's logo and details regarding the Ryerson Library, the School of the Art Institute, and their lecture series. The white border design is indicative of the early 20th-century printing period typically found between 1915 and 1930.
Buying more than one?
You can save on shipping by purchasing multiple items—I'll automatically combine shipping for anything bought at the same time. Add the cards you want to your cart and check out when you're ready.
For postcards priced over $20 (Buy It Now): I ship these first-class in a sturdy cardboard mailer, with the postcard protected in a hard plastic top loader.
For postcards under $20 and auction wins: These are shipped using eBay's standard envelope service (delivered by USPS), packed in a semi-rigid mailer. If you prefer upgraded protection with first-class shipping, please message me before completing your payment.
Important note about eBay standard envelope shipping: This option doesn't get scanned like regular packages, so tracking can sometimes be inaccurate. It may show as “delivered” once it reaches your local post office—even if it hasn't arrived at your door yet. Please be patient, and don't hesitate to contact me if you're concerned about delivery.
*To keep shipping costs reasonable for customers outside of the U.S., international orders do not include tracking*
