For sale is a lot consisting of 9 Victorian pressed glass open salts, also called salt cellars, plus a new unopened package of 48 small silver plastic spoons. There are 5 square -shaped with a round opening, 3 oval-shaped and 1 round salts. Some or all of the salts, especially the squares, could possibly be Sandwich Glass as this was available when individual salts were used. These were often used at each place setting so that the guest could season their food to their own taste. A very small spoon was specifically provided for the salt but the original silver spoons are not included with the lot. The new plastic spoons are a bit larger than the originals but will serve their purpose well. These were used in our family for holiday dinners, mostly for the sake of tradition, and made special meals just a little more memorable. Approximate outside dimensions for the salts are: Squares - 1 1/2" square, ovals - 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" and round - 1 1/4" diameter.
