This vintage blank note card reproduces NIVOSE (4th month of the French Republican Calendar, corresponding to late December through mid-January), one of the 12 allegorical illustrations of the Calendrier Républicain used in France 1792 1806. The original artwork was designed by Duflos del. and engraved by Fossier sculp. in the late 1790s; the original is held by the Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris. This reproduction card was published by Pierre Belvédère Inc. of Montréal and printed in Belgium (© by Jacquet, Brussels). Card is unused, blank inside. The back shows publisher information: PIERRE BELVEDERE INC. Montréal, Printed in Belgium, Bibliothèque Nationale Paris, and card number N° 4152 with series code 85 R. The front features a woman in classical dress with white veil and teal-blue gown, holding a bird (swallow), with winter landscape in background. The month caption reads 'NIVOSE' with date reference '22 Décembre le soleil répond au Capricorne' and French verse about winter's charms. Card dates to sometime after 1960 when Pierre Belvédère was founded; exact production year is not printed. Card shows light edge wear and minor corner bumps typical of vintage stationery stock. No envelope included.
