This vintage blank note card reproduces PRAIRIAL, one of the 12 allegorical illustrations of the French Republican Calendar (Calendrier Républicain, used in France 1792 1806). The original artwork was designed by Lafitte del. and engraved by Freux sculp. in the late 1790s; the original is held by the Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris. This reproduction card was published by Pierre Belvédère Inc. of Montréal and printed in Belgium (© by Jacquet, Brussels). Card is unused, blank inside. Exact production year is not printed on the card; Pierre Belvédère was founded in 1960, so this dates to sometime after that, but no more precise date can be confirmed without a matching box or envelope. Card number N° 4145, series code 98 R. The illustration depicts a young woman in classical dress holding a flute and a dove, set against a pastoral spring landscape with trees and rural scenery. The calendar table shows the correspondence between the Republican month of Prairial (21 Mai) and the common calendar. The card exhibits light vintage wear with slight edge toning and minimal handling marks consistent with age. No envelope is present.
