Item This vintage blank note card reproduces Pluviose, one of the 12 allegorical illustrations of the French Republican Calendar (Calendrier Republicain, used in France 1792-1806). The original artwork was designed by Lafitte and engraved by Freese in the late 1790s; the original is held by the Bibliotheque Nationale de Paris. This reproduction card was published by Pierre Belvedere Inc. of Montreal and printed in Belgium (copyright by Jacquet, Brussels). Card is unused and blank inside. The inside left panel is clean with no writing; the right panel shows the printed calendar art. Exact production year is not printed on the card; Pierre Belvedere was founded in 1960, so this dates to sometime after that, but no more precise date can be confirmed without a matching box or envelope. Card number N° 4141, series code 85 R. Back shows publisher imprint and "Calendrier Republicain (1792-1806)" in blue text. Condition: Very Good. Shows light edge wear, minor corner bumps, and slight age toning to the card stock consistent with vintage stationery. No creases or tears. No envelope included.
