ItemThis vintage blank note card reproduces THERMIDOR, one of the 12 allegorical illustrations of the French Republican Calendar (Calendrier Républicain, used in France 1792 1806). The original artwork was designed by Laffitte (del.) and engraved by Tresca (sculp.) in the late 1790s; the original is held by the Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris. This reproduction card was published by Pierre Belvédère Inc. of Montréal and printed in Belgium (© Jacquet, Brussels). Card is unused, blank inside. Exact production year is not printed on the card; Pierre Belvédère was founded in 1960, so this dates to sometime after that, but no more precise date can be confirmed without a matching box or envelope. Card number N° 4147, series code 98 R. The Thermidor allegory depicts a classical woman bathing under flowing water, representing the eleventh month of the Republican calendar (approximately July 19 to August 17). The card shows light age toning typical of vintage paper stock but remains in good structural condition with clean, intact edges.
