An incredibly early and RARE piece of Female Impersonator JULIAN ELTINGE memorabilia from before Eltinge was a Broadway and film star! This is an original ink blotter advertising the play MISS SIMPLICITY Presented by BANK OFFICERS ASSOCIATION February 25 to March 2, 1901 at the Tremont Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. The young female impersonator JULIAN ELTINGE had the title role of the play which led to his discovery by Broadway producers. Eltinge was not a member of the Boston Bank Officer's Association but had been taking dance lessons in the upstairs dance studio at the Tremont Theatre and was recommended by his dance teacher to the association for this role and the rest is history. A neat piece for the Eltinge collector!
I am selling off a collection of antique and vintage female impersonator and male impersonator items including many early Eltinge pieces so be sure to check my other listings for more similar items. Thanks for looking!
